Pretty much universally the advice is to just add DPP to one's work flow for the lens corrections, and I've seen many people comment that this is the only time they use DPP. One data point that supports this: often when a new Canon lens or body is released, there can be a long wait for lens profiles to become available to Adobe or capture one, but they're almost immediately available for DPP. Almost all of the criticism I've seen of DPP is with the clunkiness/speed. I'll let others more advanced than I comment, but I think you're right. Am I missing anything - other than faster speed of processing - by sticking with DPP for the raw conversion aspect of my workflow? I have tried many raw converters over the years and, as a canon-only shooter, have not found anything that bests DPP in terms of the quality of the raw conversion of canon files. I have found this thread very interesting - with informative comments from forum members who are clearly on top of this stuff. DXO Pure Raw for correcting Canon RF 14-35mm f4L. |
